United Alliance (Mouttahidoun): Ollaik Appeals the Previous Decisions Against Him by the Military Public Prosecutor and Hopes a Black Page to Be Turned in the Lebanese Judicial Record

Judicial Corruption

The founder of the “United Against Corruption” Alliance, lawyer Rami Ollaik (unjustly disbarred due to pressure on the Beirut Bar Association), appealed before the Permanent Military Court four previous prosecution decisions against him by the Military Public Prosecutor. The decisions involved summoning Ollaik before said court and the Single Military Court of Mount Lebanon. They were arbitrarily issued against him in light of his whistleblower role and fight against rampant corruption in Lebanese state institutions, especially with regard to the corruption of Lebanon’s banking sector and the rights of depositors. The Alliance’s lawyers filed yesterday, July 22, a memorandum of procedural defenses before the Permanent Military Court in a fifth prosecution claim against him.

Ollaik had filed a complaint in accordance with the rules before the Minister of National Defense, in which he refuted with documents and evidence what he was subjected to unjustly and arbitrarily. Copies of the complaint were registered at the Judicial Inspection Authority, the Higher Judicial Council, the Ministry of Justice, the Presidency of the Republic and the Prime Ministry. Meanwhile, the Alliance’s lawyers are pursuing dozens of ‘fabricated’ cases against Ollaik through “judicial fraud” by the prosecution authorities, specifically the Public Prosecutor and the investigative judiciary.

All of this have not succeeded in dissuading Ollaik one iota from pursuing his mission and work, especially with regard to lifting injustice against depositors, the signs of which have begun to appear through the precedent of liberating a deposit with Fransabank and its interest in full, through the Lebanese court system. This has been a marked breakthrough at a time bankers and their associates are still trying to besiege Ollaik and his work team, specifically through their pressure and bribes in hounding him with malicious prosecutions, slander and completely silencing the media!

In light of everything that happened, Ollaik hopes that this black page in the record of the Lebanese judiciary and military establishment will be over, the first and mandatory path to crossing into the state of law and institutions.
