UFL Files a Criminal Lawsuit Against the Protesters' Aggressors on the 6th of June Movement

Compromising Personal Liberties

Once again in the chain of attacks on rioters, the legal team of UFL filed a criminal lawsuit today, Thursday, June 11, 2020, with a personal claim being taken before the Public Prosecution in Beirut, registered under the number 3162 / M / 2020, against everyone who was shown by the investigation as an interference, instigator, or partner in the assault on young men of UFL team during the movement on Saturday, June 6, 2020, in Martyrs' Square, with beating, intentional harm, encroachment on private property and inciting sectarian strife. As the members of UFL were surprised when they reached the square on Saturday noon, when a significant number of young men carrying the slogans of "Sabaa" were surprised by all kinds of attacks, abuse and physical beating as well as breaking loudspeakers, all this despite UFL emphasis on complete peace since the start of the revolution in October 2019.

This lawsuit comes like its predecessors against any attack on peaceful rioters, for which UFL was the first to document the first attack, as submitted on November 1, 2019 a criminal lawsuit against the aggressors. A number of other lawsuits followed, UFL regrets, despite the close follow-up of its attorney, that no serious decision has been taken in light of the investigations to hold the perpetrators accountable for being "supported". UFL hopes that the Public Prosecutor, Judge Ghassan Oweidat, will handle this lawsuit differently (as with all its predecessors due to the sensitive situation related to it), so that the Judiciary does not fall permanently before a handful of people supported by the symbols of corruption attacking the basic rights of people, otherwise UFL lawyers would have to follow this file before the relevant international forums
