Vision & Mission

Vision:

The present condition of Lebanon is the outcome of a confessional system, with sectarianism formally enshrined as an integral part of political debate inside the country's system of government. In the end, the distinction between favoritism and meritocracy has become increasingly muddled, leading to a persistent state of systemic patronage. An authoritarian elite ruling class controls representation and influence in government decision-making, which has the major impact of creating a corrupt system that is resistant to effective reform. Corruption must be reduced in order to achieve a system of equal rights and obligations for all citizens. This is the only way out in a true democracy.

Mission:

Reinstating accountability on two levels:

  1. Legal: Instilling an independent and functional judicial system safeguarding the interests of the people, with no one held above the law.
  2. Civil: Raising public awareness of the need for the rule of law to override existing confessional beliefs and practices. Opting for genuine and effective reform, with its main pillars:
    • Uncompromisable rule of law.
    • Diligent law enforcement.
    • Emphasizing recovery of stolen assets due to illicit enrichment or conflict of interest.
    • Promoting transparency, access to information, and, whistleblower protection.

“The Alliance of UFL aims at achieving an independent and fair judiciary system by freeing it from the control of politicians and reinforcing effective accountability in the various public fields.” Annahar Newspaper, November 2017.
