UFL Calls for Completing the Civil Disobedience Steps that started on October 17

October 17

At a time when the Lebanese people are suffering from the utmost degrees of humiliation and degradation at all levels, especially due to the deterioration of their financial conditions in light of the dollar crisis and the detention of their money in the banks, the outrageous soaring of prices, power rationing, as well as the flour, fuel, medicine and medical equipment crisis among others, UFL believes that the political authority  is working at a different wavelength, on another planet to say the least. In this context, UFL continues what it started on October 17, underlining the choice of effective Civil Disobedience as the only way out. UFL also calls on the Lebanese people to stand together and take a unified decision that would totally reject the corruption practices and political murder through joining this step. It also announces the debut of the coordination with the revolution movements, social organizations and bodies, so that they can officially announce their participation and sign a petition including the popular demands. Implementation of the Civil Disobedience will go as follows:

The first stage includes refusing to pay service-related taxes in exchange of which citizens don’t get anything in return. These are:

1- Traffic and motor fees

2- Traffic violation fees

3- Municipal fees

What may look like the minimum rights for a foreigner, as serviceable roads and municipal services, in additional to other public services, has actually become a far-fetched dream for the Lebanese citizen. Day after day, living has become more difficult for the citizens who have become hopeless with only a pen to describe the deplorable state they have reached. Description has to stop immediately and the movement has to rise and break the barrier that prevents the Lebanese from enjoying a prosperous life!

After the success of the first stage, the Lebanese can move to the second step, which is refusing to pay the phone, electricity, water, and postage fee bills, in addition to refusing to pay bank loans in a later step since it’s indirectly related to the Civil Disobedience step.

Accordingly, UFL lawyers are fully prepared to help and support any citizen who participates in the Civil Disobedience step and refuses to rightfully pay the fees. UFL further announces putting a hotline in service for the citizens to report any complaints of intimidation or oppression on the roads or in public institutions: 71/976060.
